Jaylon Bester was a team captain for three seasons at Miami (Ohio), and he was named the offensive MVP for the team during the 2019 season, when he led the RedHawks with 741 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns on 171 carries. During the course of that season, Bester had a rushing touchdown in 10 consecutive games. He scored multiple touchdowns in games against Northern Illinois, Ohio, Bowling Green and against Louisiana in the Lending Tree Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. 

In 2018, Bester was named Miami Offense Most Improved Player. During his sophomore season, he averaged 5.4 yards a carry and finished with 185 yards on 34 rushing attempts. He also had 13 receptions for 103 yards.

In his collegiate career at Miami (Ohio), Bester rushed for 1,048 yards on 248 carries and scored 16 touchdowns for the RedHawks. He also caught 31 passes for 193 yards. Bester worked as a kick return specialist in college and averaged 23 yards per return. 

Bester graduated from Althoff Catholic High School in Bellville, Illinois, where he earned first-team all-state honors as a senior and was named to the St. Louis All-Metro team after rushing for 2,184 yards and scoring 33 touchdowns in his senior season. 

Bester was a team captain in high school under head coach Ken Turner.  The Crusaders had an 18-game winning streak and appeared in a state championship game in 2015.

Bester worked as a camp coach at Miami University Football Camps, where he took players through large group drills and focused on individual practice with multiple attendees. Bester was also an intern in the Strength and Conditioning Program at Miami University. He worked with athletes from five different sports and coached them through lifts.

Bester majored in Sports Management at Miami (Ohio) and is the son of Sheria Liddell and Marcus Bester.
