Taylor Barnhill begins his second season as a graduate assistant coach for tight ends at Midwestern State.
A versatile four-year letter winner at UNLV from 2010-14 splitting time at quarterback, tight end, H-back and on special teams while also competing one spring at linebacker in his time with the Rebels.
Barnhill finished his senior campaign with a career-best 29 receptions for 275 yards with two touchdowns in 2014 starting 13 games at H-back after making 21 catches for 131 yards in 13 games including six starts at tight end or H-back as a junior.
He recorded 14 receptions for 106 yards in 12 games with seven starts at tight end or H-back as a sophomore in 2012 after spending the season playing on the defensive side of the line.
Barnhill earned his first letter at UNLV as a redshirt-freshman playing seven games which included two starts at quarterback and also lined up on kickoff teams at different times.
He made his debut under center at Wyoming early in the season, then moved to H-back but returned to start two games at quarterback due to injuries. Barnhill completed 7-of-10 passes for 54 yards and rushed seven times for 77 yards in his first career start as a QB at New Mexico. He also started the season finale at TCU completing 4-of-12 passes for 48 yards.
He was signed as the only quarterback of UNLV's 2010 signing class and was listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals out of Northwest High School in Justin, Texas.
Barnhill, a four-time Academic All-Mountain West honoree, began his coaching career in 2017-18 in the Mount Vernon (Texas) ISD.
