Jaren Nickleson begins his second season as a graduate assistant at Midwestern State in 2021 serving as running backs coach.
Nickleson spent the previous two seasons mentoring wide receivers as a graduate assistant at Harding (Ark.). The Bisons reached the NCAA Division II playoffs in both campaigns.
He completed his collegiate career at the University of Texas in 2012 after battling three seasons as a scout team wide receiver. During his tenure, Nickleson helped the Longhorns to wins in the Holiday Bowl in 2011 and the Valero Alamo Bowl in 2012.
Nickleson enjoyed a stellar prep career at King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was presented with the Wendy's High School Heisman which is awarded to the nation's most esteemed high school senior men and women for excellence in academics, athletics and leadership.
He was a first-team all-district selection as a senior at King High finishing with 500 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Nickleson was a National Achievement Scholar and Flint Hills Scholar Athlete who also lettered in baseball and track.
