Brian Natkin

Brian Natkin is in his first season as an offensive coordinator and continues as the offensive line coach - a position he has held since arriving at Midwestern State in 2007.

Natkin has proven to be a superior mentor of offensive lineman producing three All Americans in Tony Burson, Lance Calloway and Amini Silatolu.

During his first MSU campaign of 2007, the offensive line unit paved the way for NCAA Division II’s best offense as the Mustangs churned out 549.4 yards of total offense a game while leading the nation in rushing with 316.5 yards per contest. The line allowed just 14 sacks.

Natkin’s line produced his first All American in Burson and a second-team All-Lone Star Conference South Division performer in Immanuel Sennet in 2007.

In 2008, the Mustangs' front unit paved the way to the No. 3 rushing attack in the Lone Star Conference with 143.8 yards per game while producing a second-team all-division performer in right tackle Eldridge Sims.

In 2009, Midwestern rolled up over 426 yards of total offense to rank 17th in the nation and the offensive line produced another All American with center Lance Calloway taking Don Hansen's Football Gazette honorable mention and was joined by Matt Hanson and Dillion Sullivan for All-LSC honors.

The Mustangs once again boasted the LSC's top rushing attack in 2010 chewing up just over 212 yards per game on the ground with Silatolu earning numerous All-American honors. Hank Gilley, Rickie Gomez and Bobby Parsons joined Silatolu earning all-conference accolades.

Natkin converted an exceptional collegiate career into a brief career with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, where he appeared in three games and recorded two receptions for 42 yards in 2001. He was brought back to camp with the Titans the following year and earned invite to the St. Louis Rams’ camp in 2002 before returning to his alma mater to complete his degree and begin his coaching career.

Natkin was a consensus All-American selection in his senior year of 2000 at the University of Texas-El Paso as he lead the nation with 63 receptions for 775 yards and four touchdowns from the tight end position.

He was also a three-time All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) first-team selection while helping the Miners to a WAC championship and an appearance in the Humanitarian Bowl in 2000 when he was also tabbed UTEP’s Male Athlete of the Year.

After a two-year run at professional football, Natkin returned to El Paso to complete a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in philosophy. While finishing his degree requirements, he served as a student assistant for two seasons before accepting a graduate assistant’s job in 2004.

While at UTEP, he mentored a second-team All-WAC performer in Jonas Crafts in 2004 and an honorable mention freshman All-American in Jamar Hunt a year later.

Natkin accepted his first full-time job at the University of Northern Colorado in 2006 taking charge of an offensive line that laid the groundwork for 1,000-yard rusher Andre Wilson and produced an All-Big Sky honorable mention lineman in Jake Gable.

Natkin and his wife, Stacy, are the proud parents to twins Brock and Lauren. The couple resides in Wichita Falls.
