Midwestern State played the longest game in program history for its home opener last week but suffered a 3-2 loss in 13 innings to Lubbock Christian, which ended up sweeping the doubleheader. The Mustangs have played 10 games (2-8), and seven have been decided by one run (2-5). MSU has played three extra-inning games (0-3). Pitching and defense have been consistently good early in the season, but the Stang Gang needs timely hitting in order to win more of these close games. This week the Mustangs host No. 9-ranked Angelo State on Friday afternoon with the doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, UT Permian Basin will be at Mustangs Park and the twinbill gets underway at 1 p.m.
