WICHITA FALLS, Texas –
Alayna Guerrero has been named Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week, announced the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Guerrero orchestrated the Mustangs offense to a 2-0 weekend to start LSC action. It is the second time this season Guerrero earned conference setter of the week.
The junior setter averaged a league best 10.8 assists per set during over the first weekend of conference play. The Red Oak, Texas native logged a double-double 28 assists and 14 digs, their sixth of the season. The next day, Guerrero distributed 37 assists during a sweep over Sul Ross State. The tally surpassed a season high for assists in a three set-match, pushing the Mustangs to a 2-0 start in conference play.
The Mustangs head on the road to take on St. Edward's and St. Mary's this weekend, looking to build on a strong start to the season. Midwestern State will tangle with St. Edward's on Friday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m., and then battle St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
