WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State fell to Fort Lewis, 2-0, in the third round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship at Stang Park on Sunday afternoon.
Midwestern State finished the season with a 15-3-3 record. Fort Lewis improved to 14-3-6 for the season and will face top-seeded Colorado State-Pueblo in the national quarterfinals. The Skyhawks are 1-1-1 in three previous meetings with the Thunderwolves this season.Â
Fort Lewis avenged a 2-1 loss to Midwestern State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season and improved to 1-2-1 against MSU all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Fort Lewis is 3-5-2 all-time at Stang Park. Midwestern State leads the all-time series, 10-7-3.

David Citron converted a penalty kick in the sixth minute, and Anton Hjalmarsson scored on a counter attack in the 50th minute for the Skyhawks, who took 10 of their 16 shots in the first half.
