WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State hit 7-of-24 shots from the floor in the first half and trailed Angelo State by 17 at halftime. Despite shooting better than 53 percent in the second half, the Mustangs suffered a 69-55 defeat Saturday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED >>>

Angelo State used an 11-0 run to take a 15-4 lead with 13:09 to play in the first half. Midwestern State cut the lead to five points, but Guy Willie and Kevon Godwin combined to hit three consecutive shots from 3-point range, and the Rams led 28-14 with 4:33 remaining in the first half.

Jermane Carter and Derrick Ogechi each had five points and were the leading scorers for the Mustangs in the first half.

Pierre Sanders scored two points in the first half and hit his first shot from the field with 1:02 to play in the opening stanza.

Kevon Godwin led Angelo State with 11 points in the first half and hit three of the Rams' five 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes.

Godwin opened the second half with a steal and an uncontested layup before assisting Guy Willie on a second-chance 3-pointer with 17:13 remaining as the Rams established their largest lead of the game, 48-27.

Midwestern State hit 15 of 28 shots in the second half and outscored the Rams over the final 20 minutes, 34-31.

- MSU senior Jermane Carter finished the game with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
- MSU senior Luke Hamilton finished with 10 points and five rebounds in his second game back from injury.
- MSU senior Derrick Ogechi grabbed seven rebounds for MSU, which was outrebounded, 39-33. Ogechi finished with nine points.
- MSU junior Pierre Sanders played a game-high 38 minutes but was held to four points on 1-of-5 shooting.
- Godwin was limited to six points in the second half but led Angelo State with 17 points on 7-of-17 shootings from the field.
