BETHANY, Okla. -- Though
Lauryn Bourne led all attackers with 15 kills on the match, Midwestern State dropped their fifth straight game to Southern Nazarene on Tuesday night.
The Crimson Storm sent MSU 0-5 by claiming a four-set win, 25-18, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-20.

"We need to become more consistent throughout the entire match," MSU coach Val Armstrong said.

The Mustangs started strong in the first set, holding the lead up until both teams were at ten. The Storm slowly pushed ahead until they secured the set 25-18. The Mustangs tallied 10 kills in the first set with three coming fromÂ
Lissette Lefforge.
The senior middle blocker concluded the night with seven kills and a five total blocks.

SNU hammered out 13 kills in the first set while hitting .379 as a team. Whitney Bowie, who put down three kills in the first set, matched teammate Bailey Grimes to lead SNU with 11 kills.

"We played a solid second set and got going, but we have to continue to work and push through points and rallies," Armstrong said.

The second set was Midwestern State's from the get-go. The visitors were ahead up until a six-point streak put Southern Nazarene even. The Mustangs battled to the end and took home the 25-22 win. MSU totaled 13 kills and five total blocks in their winning set.
Taylor Anderson made her mark with two kills and two block assists. The senior tallied five kills and three block assists overall.

The third set started rough for the Mustangs as a six-point run put the Storm ahead early. Another five-point streak sealed the deal as Southern Nazarene ran away with the 25-17 score. Bourne smacked down three of her 15 kills in the set and added a service ace. Overall the sophomore hit at .208 percent and notched 17.5 points.

SNU took the final set, but Midwestern State did not go down without a fight. The team staged a six-point run to come within two of the home side at 21-19 before falling 25-20.
Junior
Kaitlynn Stoker finished with seven kills, whileÂ
Amy DeWalt led the Mustangs with 18 digs.

Autumn Roach led the Mustangs with 21 assists and notched her third match with 20-or-more helpers, while
Regan Willms added 14.

 "Our service pressure got better throughout the match and there were a lot of positives that we will build on for the weekend," Armstrong said.

Midwestern State hosts the two-day Hampton Inn-vitational Tournament Friday and Saturday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs take on Colorado Mesa and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday before facing Arkansas Tech and Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.
