Tahlequah, Oklahoma – No. 11 Midwestern State has opened the season with a pair of victories, and now tries to build off that success on Wednesday night against Northeastern State University. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m. from DeLoache Field.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Mustangs have owned Northeastern State over the years, posting a 31-6-2 mark against the River Hawks. MSU is an impressive 15-2 in Tahlequah and has won 10-straight games in enemy territory. 
 
MOVING ON UP
The Mustangs moved up three spots, to No. 11 in the first United Soccer Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. MSU has appeared in the last 53 USC rankings as a ranked side dating back to the 2014 season and the Mustangs have received votes in the last 65 rankings dating back to 2013.
 
MEIKE'S MAGIC
Hikaruhito Meike's goal with just seconds remaining was the game-winner in Sunday's 2-1 win over Colorado State – Pueblo. The Sendai, Japan native's goal has the Mustangs off to a 2-0 start for the third straight season.
 
LAMPE LAYING DOWN THE LAW
Taylor Lampe has yielded just one goal through the first two games of the season. The junior goalkeeper notched the 18th shutout of his career in the season opener to move within three shutouts of tying the program record of 21 set by Raul Herrera (2005, 2009-2010).
 
A MINUTE WITH MEACHUM
Michael Meachum kicked off his second year as Head Coach at Midwestern State with a 2-0 win over Dixie State on September 5 at Stang Park. Meachum posted a 16-1-3 mark in his first season at the helm.
 
SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
Northeastern State picked up their first win of the season on Sunday, besting Missouri S&T, 3-1. The River Hawks are led offensively by Aaron Ugbah (1 goal, 1 assist). NSU advanced to the NCAA Central Region Championship in 2018, compiling a 15-3-1 record.
 
UP NEXT
The Lone Star Conference opener as the Mustangs travel to Austin to face St. Edward's on September 19. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. from Lewis-Chen Family Field.
