WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Elizabeth Cathcart scored 15 points and Midwestern State shook off a slow start to take down Texas Wesleyan 75-68 on Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs earned the win despite committing 28 turnovers.

Cathcart shot 6-of-11 from the floor. The senior was a game-time decision after taking an elbow to the face during practice on Friday.

The Mustangs turned the ball over eight times in the opening quarter to find themselves down 17-15.

An Alexus Brigham jumper with 6:49 remaining in the first half gave Texas Wesleyan a five point edge at 25-20. Brigham finished with 19 points and two assists. The Mustangs closed the quarter on a 13-6 run to take a two point lead into the locker room. Erin Alexander scored all five of her points in the frame.

Trailing by one at 43-42 following a Nicole Gleason triple with 4:54 to play in the third quarter, Mica Schneider scored four straight points to give MSU the lead. Shawnisay Millar pushed the run to 6-0 and MSU's lead to 48-43 with a pair of free throws. The sophomore from Prestonpans, Scotland scored a career-high 11 points on 6-of-11 shooting. MSU outscored the Rams 6-2 the rest of the quarter to take a 54-45 lead into the final frame.

Destiney Winkfield's jumper in transition with 1:11 to play brought TXWES to within three at 71-68. Winkfield, a transfer from Tarleton State, poured in a game-high 26 points. MSU ended the game on a 4-0 run to thwart the comeback.
