Josh Wallace knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in overtime and scored six of his 18 points in overtime as Midwestern State fought off Oklahoma Christian, 88-82, to snap a six-game skid and give coach
Nelson Haggerty his 150
th win.
Wallace scored six of his 18 points in overtime, coming on a pair of triples. The Queens, N.Y., native drilled the game-tying three with 1:55 to go in the extra period to knot the game at 82.
Senior
JaJuan Starks lit up the scoreboard for the fourth-straight game and first career double-double, scoring 21 points and pulling down a season-high 12 boards.
Junior
Elijah Lee added 10 points and six assists. The Pepperdine transfer was crucial down the stretch for MSU Texas, hitting all eight free throws and going 4-for-4 in overtime.
With the Mustangs lead 76-73, OC's Jordan Box banked in a game-tying 3-pointer with 23 seconds left in regulation. Both teams had possession in the final five seconds, but neither side was able to get a shot off.
After Wallace's tying trey, Starks gave the Maroon and Gold the lead for good with a jumper in the lane. Lee hit all four attempts from the charity stripe to give MSU Texas the win.
Box finished with a game-high 22 for the Eagles and all six of the team's points in overtime. Roderick Smith added 17 points and 12 rebounds while Will Lienhard snagged 15 boards.
