THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANGELO, Texas – Behind a pair of goals from Ally Warren, the South Central Region's top-ranked team Angelo State totaled 16 shots on goal en route to a 3-2 victory over No. 11 Midwestern State to take the season series in a battle of the top two teams in the Lone Star Conference Sunday afternoon at ASU Soccer Field.

The Rambelles earned their second 3-2 win over Midwestern State (11-4-1, 6-3-1 LSC) this season to widen their lead to six points in the LSC race with two games remaining in the regular season.

Angelo State (11-2-1, 8-1-1 LSC) rallied from an early 1-0 deficit with 26 shots and 16 on frame, the most shots allowed on goal by the Mustangs in program history.

Senior Destinee Williamson netted her team-best sixth goal of the season in the 23rd minute with a shot from the left side to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead midway through the first half.

The Rambelles mounted a comeback in the final 10 minutes of the opening half with Cassandra Moosburger providing the equalizer with a goal in the 36th minute off an assist from Trenadey Scott. Warren closed out the scoring for Angelo State with the go-ahead goal at the 43:47 mark before netting her second strike in the 73rd minute.

Facing a 3-1 deficit, freshman Julia Orozco posted her second goal of the season with a score in the 75th minute to trim the ASU lead to 3-2. However, the Mustangs were unable to get off another shot attempt, being held to just four shots the entire match.

QUOTE OF THE MATCH
"It was a really well played game by both teams. With us scoring first, we put ourselves under a lot of pressure since it was still early in the game. They (Angelo State) responded quite well scoring twice and keeping us under pressure. In the second half, I think we solved some problems and put the pressure back on them with that second goal. Julia (Orozco) came in and was an absolute spark, getting the game under control and fighting and putting herself in a position to score. I think the back four did a good job to deal with a very potent offense." – Head coach Damian Clarke
