KINGSVILLE, Texas – Behind a 15-kill performance from Madison Brabham, Texas A&M-Kingsville benefited from a quick start to earn a 3-0 sweep of Midwestern State Saturday afternoon at the Steinke Center.
 
The Javelinas opened up the match hitting .417 with 18 kills and just three errors in the first frame to record a 25-16 victory over Midwestern State (9-10, 3-7 LSC). Texas A&M-Kingsville (13-8, 6-4 LSC) built an early lead to hold an edge on the Mustangs throughout the set before closing out with a 6-2 run for a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Meghan Bettis, 
Rockelle Gholson and 
Raven Presley combined for 13 of MSU's 15 kills in the second game, holding a 15-13 advantage on the Javelinas following a Bettis kill. TAMUK responded with a 7-2 spurt to grab a 20-17 lead after a block by Lexi Wick and Casey Klobedans. Back-to-back kills for Gholson and 
Erin Richburg brought the Mustangs within a point at 22-21, but the Javelinas were able to hold on for the narrow 25-22 victory.
 
The third set was point-for-point a majority of the way as the Mustangs moved in front midway through the frame with Gholson's five kills pacing MSU. After back-to-back errors by the Javelinas gave the Mustangs a 19-16 lead, TAMUK inched back to knot the set up at 21 apiece. The Mustangs fended off two match points following a pair of Javelina errors before a Brabham kill and a block for Klobedans and Wick sealed the sweep with a 26-24 win.
