THE RUNDOWN
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 7th-ranked Midwestern State men's soccer team battled host UC-Colorado Springs to a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium in a physical contest that saw a total of 10 cautions and ejections.
It was a quiet first half offensively for both teams with senior midfielder
Gabriel Cavalcante tallying the lone shot on goal in the period at the 8:40 mark as Midwestern State (1-0-1) went into the locker room with a 3-2 edge in total shots.
The Mustangs put together a pair of chances early on in the second half but were unable to get on the board as sophomore forward

Pierre Bocquet's header hit the crossbar. MSU totaled four shots on goal in the second half while UC-Colorado Springs (1-0-1) managed just two towards the end of regulation.
In the first overtime, the Mustangs were able to get into the attacking third and create a couple of opportunities but UCCS goalkeeper David Meyer came away with a pair of saves while the Mountain Lions defense blocked another shot to keep the match at 0-0.
In the final 10 minutes, a total of four yellow cards and one red card were issued as UCCS forward Jake Demerath was ejected with 4:53 to play in the period. However, the Mustangs were unable to take advantage of UCCS playing a man down as neither team recorded a shot in the final five minutes of action for the 0-0 final.
