Texas A&M-Kingsville (7-3, 2-2 LSC) began to pull away in the second quarter after a 13-11 score through the first 10 minutes of action. The Javelinas limited the Mustangs to just seven points on 14.3 percent shooting in the period to claim a 31-18 halftime lead

An 11-0 run capped off by a three-pointer from Kaylee Kana forced an early MSU timeout in the third quarter as the Javelinas took their largest lead of the contest at 42-18 with 7:21 remaining in the period. Midwestern crept closer in the latter stages of the third with Liz Cathcart converting a three-point play and Micheline Mercelita following with a basket to make it a 16-point game with 1:23 left in the period.

The Mustangs pulled within 10 to begin the fourth quarter after back-to-back buckets from Avery Queen for a 47-37 score with 8:53 remaining. A Taylor triple brought MSU within single digits for the first time since the 2:33 mark in the second quarter with just under six minutes to play at 49-40 before TAMUK answered with a 5-0 spurt to extend its lead back to double figures. Midwestern was unable to come closer down the stretch with the Javelinas recording their first win in Wichita Falls since Jan. 27, 2010.
