WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Behind double-doubles from junior forward Jennifer Sissel and senior forward
Katie Brown, Midwestern State recorded its third-straight win inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum with a 55-44 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville Wednesday evening.
Sissel posted a team-high 16 points, her fourth double-figure scoring performance in the last five outings, while totaling 11 rebounds. Brown tallied a career night with a career-best 10 points and 17 boards, including nine offensive rebounds for the 19th-highest rebound total in program history. Sophomore guard

With the victory, Midwestern State (4-12, 3-3 LSC) has now won nine of the last 10 and six straight over the Javelinas dating back to the 2010-11 season.
MSU built an 8-0 advantage to control the momentum early, just as the Mustangs did in their previous two home wins over Eastern New Mexico and Tarleton State.
Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-10, 0-5 LSC) answered an 8-0 MSU run with a 7-4 spurt to close out the frame with senior guard Ashley Viera converting a four-point play to make it a 12-7 score after one.
The Javelinas took their first lead of the game at the 7:29 mark in the second period as TAMUK knocked down five triples in a 13-minute span capped off by a trey from junior guard Kaylin Roher for a 16-14 advantage. Roher led the Javelinas with 14 points on the night.
Four different Mustangs contributed for the MSU offense in a 14-5 run to close out the half and take a 28-21 lead into the break.
It was a strong third period for the Mustangs, building a 20-point advantage with 1:45 to play in the quarter following a three-pointer from freshman guard
Alyssa Jones. MSU outscored TAMUK 21-8 in the period while limiting the Javelinas to 21.4 percent (3-of-14) shooting. Sissel notched seven of her 16 points in the quarter, giving the Mustangs their first double-digit lead of the night with 5:50 to play in the frame at 36-26.
A Brown layup with 6:47 remaining gave MSU a 54-34 lead before the Javelinas ended the game on a 10-1 run. MSU committed 10 of its 24 turnovers in the quarter while being held to an 18.2 shooting percentage (2-of-11).
The Mustangs forced 25 Javelina turnovers for the game, turning those miscues into 26 points on the other end.
Brown and Sissel led the Mustangs to a season-high 49 rebounds, out-rebounding the Javelinas by 13. MSU also matched a season-best 15 assists on 20 made baskets, led by a team-high three from freshman guard
Anni Scholl.
The Mustangs shot 34.5 percent (20-of-58) while holding the Javelinas to 30.2 percent (16-of-53) from the floor.
Midwestern State hits the road Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff against Angelo State at the Junell Center in San Angelo.
