CLAREMORE, Okla. -- No. 13 Midwestern State struck for two second-half goals to roll to a 2-0 win over Rogers State (Okla.) Wednesday afternoon at Soldier Field.
"We're happy to get the win on the road," MSU coach
Doug Elder said. "We dominated play in the first half, but had nothing to show for it. Now, we just have to regroup, train for a day and move on to the next one."
The Mustangs, who advanced their unbeaten streak to 11 matches while improving to 9-1-2, take on their toughest road test of the season Saturday at No. 16 St. Edward's in Austin.
They will do have to do it without Elder, who was ejected in the 62nd minute attempting to find an answer for an offside call which was waved off. The Mustangs will also be without starter center back
Kalen Ryden.
"We are a bit hurt in the back, but we have to focus on what we have," Elder said. "The midfield is going to have to pick it up, but we will see how we come together."
MSU played without injured outside back
Chase Robertson and starting striker
Albert Rodriguez, who served out a red card suspension against the Hillcats.
Senior defender
Eric Glad and redshirt-freshman
Michael Klodzinski stepped in alongside regular starters Jevan Toledo and
Call Casarez on the back line which limited Rogers State to seven total shots with only one falling on goal.
The Mustangs finally created some space in the 59th minute when senior midfielder
Andrew Power headed in his team-best 11th goal of the season off of a corner serve from junior midfielder
Ben Clarvis.
MSU put the game away with a second goal in the 70th minute when Clarvis' cross found Toledo, who struck for his for his first goal of the season on a one-timer.
Junior goalkeeper
Nick Petolick made one save to finish off his sixth shutout of the season.
Rogers State dipped to 5-7 on the season.
