Christina Roosmalen's game winning leadoff homer in the top of the ninth inning allowing 17th-ranked Midwestern State to come away with an 8-7 over Abilene Christian to take the series.

The Wildcats rode a strong pitching performance by Caitlyn Crain to claim Game 1 by an 8-1 margin earlier in the afternoon.

Midwestern (41-14, 18-9) heads into next week's Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Mustangs take on No. 5-seeded Tarleton State at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Schaeffer Park as part of the LSC Spring Sports Festival in Canyon.

The winner moves on to face the victor of the Texas Woman's/Cameron matchup in the semifinal round Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The championship game is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
GAME 1:Â ABILENE CHRISTIAN 8, MIDWESTERN STATE 1
Abilene Christian's Caitlyn Crain allowed one run on seven hits and held Midwestern State without a home run for the first time in 25 games while leading the Wildcats to an 8-1 win.

Katelyn Vinson drilled a pair of doubles while going 3-for-3 at the dish. Her two-bagger to center field was the second of consecutive doubles in the fourth inning to plate
Courtney Bingham giving the Mustangs a short-lived 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats struck for three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and four in the sixth to tag MSU starter Kat Batey (16-7) with the loss. Batey allowed three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and six walks.
GAME 2: MIDWESTERN STATE 8, ABILENE CHRISTIAN 7
Christina Roosmalen's leadoff homer down the left field line in the ninth inning lifted Midwestern State to an 8-7 win over Abilene Christian in the nightcap.

Shelby Carter's ninth long ball of the season came with the Mustangs down to their last out and last strike in the top of the seventh to extend a back-and-forth game into extra frames.

Midwestern jumped out to an early lead on
Kelley Schaefer's two-run double to center field in the first inning.

ACU rallied to take a 3-2 edge in the bottom of the frame highlighted by RBI-singles by Sara Vaughn and Lyndi Smith.

The Mustangs reclaimed the lead courtesy of
Courtney Bingham's bases loaded triple in the second inning to surge to a 5-3 advantage.

But the Wildcats bounced back with three more runs of their own in the fourth inning to take a 6-5 advantage.

The teams exchanged runs in the sixth setting the stage for late inning dramatics by Carter and Roosmalen.

Freshman
Laci Belovsky (25-7) allowed five earned runs on 14 hits with eight strikeouts in nine innings to claim the victory for MSU.

Carter paced Midwestern's 12-hit attack with three safeties while Schaefer and
Haley Howerton had two hits each.
