WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State claimed opening day wins over Arkansas Tech and Texas A&M International Friday in the Holiday Inn at the Falls Invitational at Mustangs Park.
 
The Mustangs improved their current season long winning streak to four games while improving to 9-3 on the season.
 
Senior first baseman Christina Roosmalen slugged homers in each game while Kim Jerrick and Carey Campbell tagged shots of their won as MSU claimed a 4-3 win over ATU before doubling up the TAMIU 14-7 in the nightcap.
 
Arkansas Tech drew first blood in the opener on a hit batsman with the bases loaded in the second inning, the Mustangs quickly answered in the bottom half of the frame.
 
Freshman Shelby Carter drilled a single through the left side of the infield setting up Roosmalen's third homer of the season to left-center field to give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead.
 
Arkansas Tech re-tied the game in the third on Shanna Davidson's run-scoring double to the left-field gap before MSU regained a 3-2 edge in the bottom of the frame on Kelley Schaeffer's one-out single to left field to score Elena Bennett.
 
The teams exchanged runs in the fifth inning as the Mustangs took the lead for good on Courtney Bingham's first double of the season to right-field gap to plate Bennett.
 
Bennett and Roosmalen had two hits each to pace MSU's nine-hit attack while Laci Belovsky claimed the win allowing one run on three hits in four relief innings to improve to 5-2.
 
Midwestern scored 10 runs off of the long ball to take a 14-7 win over Texas A&M International in the nightcap.
 
Jerrick ripped a three-run blast for her fifth homer of the year in the second inning before Roosmalen launched a towering three-run shot to key a six-run third inning.
 
Campbell delivered her first career grand slam over the center-field fence to give the Mustangs a 13-4 lead in the fourth inning.
 
Kat Batey went the distance in the circle to improve to 4-1 on the season. The freshman from Plano allowed five earned run on nine hits with a season-high eight strikeouts.
 
Jerrick extended her career-best hitting streak to 18 games dating back to last season by going 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Bennett, Bingham, Campbell and Haley Howerton also had two hits as the Mustangs mashed out 14 hits.
 
In other action at the Holiday Inn at the Falls Invitational, Arkansas Tech defeated Eastern New Mexico 12-0 in five innings, Texas A&M International beat ENMU 4-2 and East Central (Okla.) run-ruled TAMIU 9-0 in five innings.
 
Midwestern State takes on East Central (Okla.) Saturday morning at 11 a.m. before playing Arkansas Tech at 1 p.m..
 
Other Saturday action includes, Eastern New Mexico against Arkansas Tech at 9 a.m., East Central versus Eastern New Mexico at 4 p.m., ENMU against Texas A&M International at 5 p.m. and Arkansas Tech against TAMIU at 7 p.m.
 
All games will be played at Mustangs Parks on the Midwestern State campus.
