WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Texas A&M-Commerce came away with a goal off of a corner kick in the first half to provide the difference in a 1-0 win over Midwestern State Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field.

Jeff Trimble said. "We had our opportunities, but were just unable to score."
The Mustangs statistically dominated the run of play controlling a 21-9 edge in shots forcing A&M-C freshman goalkeeper Callie Ballard to make 12 saves to notch her fifth shutout of the season.
The Lions used their direct style of play to earn four corner kick chances in the opening half, but it a strange bounce of the ball led to the only score of the game in the 24th minute.
Freshman Savannah Henderson used the brisk north wind (20-25 mph) to drive a ball into the center of the box. The ball hit in the middle of a mass players near the middle of the 3-yard box and bounded off of the back of Callie Annett and into the goal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Midwestern State pelted the goal with 15 shots to the Lions' three in the second half, but no save proved overly difficult for Ballard.
"I was really proud of the how we played," Trimble said. "We were very composed and played very well."

Kallie Essary made six saves including a diving stop of on a one-timer by Henderson five minutes into the second half.
"Kallie kept us in the game and really did some good things in the second half," Trimble said.
The loss snapped a five-match unbeaten streak for the Mustangs, who fell to 8-4-1 on the season and to 3-2-1 in LSC play, while Texas A&M-Commerce moved to 8-3-1 and 3-2-1.
Midwestern State plays host to Texas Woman's Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
