WICHITA FALLS, Texas - It was a game of rarities in the opener of the Holiday Inn at the Falls/MSU Invitational Friday afternoon at Mustangs Park.

MSU junior third baseman Mallory Mooney snapped her 48-game errorless streak in the second inning and then booted yet another in the sixth inning to end a 121 flawless chances.

But it ended up not mattering because Brittney Tanner made hits an even harder come by for Abilene Christian as the Mustangs rolled to their ninth-straight win by a 3-0 count to improve to 18-1 on the season.

MSU continues the tournament with games against Fort Hays State and St. Edward's Saturday afternoon at 1 and 3 p.m., respective before closing the weekend with contests versus Arkansas Tech and Incarnate Word on Sunday. All games will be played at Mustangs Park.

Tanner allowed just a one-out single to Candice Miller in the fourth inning and permitted two runners past first base. The Burkburnett High product notched seven strikeouts and walked one to improve to 11-1 on the season.

The Mustangs broke onto the scoreboard in the second inning as Kim Jerrick extend her hitting streak to seven games with a single up the middle before Mooney blasted a double to the right-field gap.

Jerrick would come plateward on Carey Campbell's pop single to left field give the Mustangs a 1-0 advantage.

MSU used its speed in the third as Elena Bennett and Megan Chartier reached on consecutive bunt singles, moved to second and third on Courtney Bingham's groundout to first then scored when Mooney belted a two-run double high off the center field fence to push the advantage to 3-0.

Bennett notched two hits to move her career best hitting streak to 17 games, while Mooney and Alyson Reynolds added two hits of their own.

Shelby Hall was saddled with the loss for ACU to fall to 3-8. She yielded three runs on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout in six innings.

The Wildcats dipped to 11-12.
