WICHITA FALLS, Texas - A simple change was all it took for No. 3 Midwestern State Friday night against Eastern New Mexico.

And it was all the same for the Mustangs as four different players contributed goals in a 4-0 Lone Star Conference runaway over the 23rd-ranked Greyhounds.

"We played much better in the second half," MSU coach Doug Elder said. "Our forwards were holding the ball too much allowing them to play us physical. We wanted them to do some one touches and our guys just stepped it up."

Junior Tex McCullough staked the Mustangs to early lead when he put away a rebound for his fourth goal of the season in the 15th minute after Bryce Taylor's header was deflected away by ENMU's Orlando Rodriguez, who finished the match with 11 saves.

"We came out playing with a lot of emotion and just couldn't put it away with the chances we had early," Elder said.

Then the halftime adjustments took effect just after Eastern New Mexico's Andy Wilkinson was sent off after accumulating a second yellow card in the 60th minute.

Seven minutes later, junior David Freeland registered the first of two assists one touching the ball to a streaking Bryce Taylor down the right wing. Taylor's low serve found the lower left corner of the net to push the MSU advantage to 2-0 in the 68th minute.

Five minutes later, Freeland threaded a through ball to Chris Dwyer, who deposited his first goal of the season to make it 3-0 in the 73rd minute, and then Chad Caldwell put away a cross from Sam Broadbent to close out scoring in the 87th minute.

Midwestern State extended its hot start to 9-0 and its home field unbeaten streak to 28 matches, while Eastern New Mexico dipped to 7-3-1.

The Mustangs host rival West Texas A&M Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the women's match with the Lady Buffs will follow at 3.
