LAS VEGAS, N.M. - Midwestern State used a pair of rapid-fire first-half goals to subdue New Mexico Highlands 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Perkins Stadium.

Katy Lukert's unassisted goal in the 23rd minute gave the Mustangs the early lead, then
Brittany Subia converted a goal off a
Kendra Clemons assist less than a minute and a half later as MSU built an early 2-0 lead.
Midwestern has matched its best start in program history with a 3-0 record, while the Cowgirls dropped to 0-2.
The Mustangs also won their first three games of the 2004 campaign and finished with a 12-4-5 mark.
New Mexico Highlands struck for a goal in the 65th minute to snap a streak of four shutouts dating back to last season.
MSU, which opened with shutout wins over St. Mary's and Central Missouri, had gone over 425 regular season minutes without allow a goal since Eastern New Mexico's Christie Nylaan tallied in the 89th minute on Oct. 26, 2008 at the MSU Soccer Field.
The Mustangs, who have now won 10-straight regular season matches, face Newman University Friday night in Wichita, Kan.
