Mustangs add Gerletti for fall 2016

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Head coach Scott Linn and the Midwestern State women's tennis program are excited to announce the addition of Anna Claire Gerletti for the 2016-17 season.

A two-star recruit and rated as the 64th-best player in the state of Texas, Gerletti will join the Mustangs after a prep career playing for coach Julianne Schmitzer at Cypress Woods High School.

A Cypress native, Gerletti is a two-time district placer and academic all-district selection for the Wildcats, advancing to the regional tournament in mixed doubles in 2015. The 5-5 lefty also captured a runner-up district finish in mixed doubles last season while earning a third-place finish in singles as a sophomore in 2014.

"It's great to bring a lefty onto the team for next season," Linn said. "Anna Claire will bring fantastic energy and attitude to the program. She has done an excellent job of continuing to develop her match play over the last four months. I'm excited to have her part of the MSU women's tennis team."

Gerletti helped the Wildcats finish in a three-way tie for a district championship in 2015 while CWHS claimed a second-place showing at district in 2014.

Gerletti has also played for the club team, Strive Tennis, in Cypress under coaches Blessing Bvunzawabaya and Mariaan De Swardt, earning the MVP award in 2013.

Gerletti is the first signee in the 2016 MSU women's tennis signing class, joining a squad that is coming off its third-straight NCAA Tournament and an Elite Eight appearance in 2015. She is the daughter of Marc and Kelly Gerletti and has one brother, Cole.
