WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State moved ahead one spot to No. 9 in the American Football Coaches' Association's final regular season poll released Monday afternoon.
 
The Mustangs claimed their 10th win for the first time since 2011 and for the fourth time in program history (1949, 2006, 2011, 2015) with a rousing come-from-behind 37-33 win over Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday night in the Lone Star Conference Playoff Championship game.
 
It's the highest ranking since MSU reached No.8 on Nov. 8, 2012.
 
As the No. 1 seed in Super Region Four, the Mustangs earned a bye and play the winner of the Colorado State-Pueblo/Indianapolis on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Memorial Stadium.
 
Midwestern is one of nine teams out of Super Region Four to receive mention in the poll joining No. 2 Ferris State (Mich.), No. 3 Ashland (Ohio), No. 4 Colorado State-Pueblo, No. 12 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 13 Indianapolis (Ind.), No. 20 Texas A&M-Commerce and No. 21 Colorado Mesa while Colorado Mines is receiving votes.
 
Northwest Missouri maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot taking a 49-13 win over Washburn (Kan.) Saturday in Maryville. The Bearcats received 30 of the 32 first-place votes.
 
Ferris State garnered their other two first-place votes at No. 2 while Ashland, Colorado State-Pueblo and Shepherd (W. Va.) round out the first five.
