Luke Joyce leads the Mustangs men in singles play at the weather-hampered ITA Small College Regional.
Joyce advanced to Monday's singles semifinals by defeating St. Mary's Zach Nicholson 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
He got to the quarters by upsetting second-seeded Bruno Tiberti of Oklahoma Christian 6-3, 7-6 in the third round on Sunday. Tiberti was the second ranked player in the NAIA last season.
Joyce opened the tournament by first beating Arkansas-Fort Smith's Claeb Gunsch 6-4, 7-5 and then beating Abilene Christian's Jason Proctor 7-6, 6-3.
He advances to take on Cameron's Nicolai Ferrigno, the tournament's sixth seed, about 9 a.m. on Monday. The regional championship match will be played later in the day.
The tournament, plagued by inclement weather that forced the tournament to a very limited number of indoor courts, has cause delays for all players.
In other MSU men's singles action in the tournament, a pair of Mustangs advanced to the round of 32.
Colby Meeks defeated Texas-Permian Basin's Alvaro Sifuentes 6-3, 6-3 in the opening round before falling to top seeded Hans Hach of ACU 6-3, 6-3.
Jarrod Liston downed St. Edward's Apollo Tran 6-3, 6-2 to open the tournament, but lost to ACU's Alfredo Desiati 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 32.

Kacper Boborykin slipped in the opening round of singles play, losing to Western New Mexico's Rodrigo Almeida in a final set tiebreaker 7-5, 7-6 (5).
