DUNCAN, Okla. – Sophomore Derek Oland's even-par 72 help propel the Midwestern State Mustangs to a third place finish at The Territory Classic hosted by Cameron at The Territory Golf and Country Club.
 
The Mustangs tallied a 305 in the final round for a 605 total, two strokes behind tournament winner Incarnate Word at 603 and one in back of Abilene Christian at 604.
 
Oland, battling 20-25 mile per hour winds all day, fired the low round of the day with his even-par 72 to finish in a fourth place tie at 3-over 147, two strokes off the pace.
 
"Derek was impressive today," said MSU Coach Jeff Ray.  "He hit 14 greens in regulation.  It was a great round under the conditions."
 
Santiago Gomez carded a 4-over 76 for the Mustangs to finish in a ninth place tie at 6-over 150.
 
"Santiago had a solid day, missing only a few fairways," said Ray.  "He really struggled with the wind."
 
Raine Copeland posted a 5-over 77 on Tuesday for a total of 8-over 152, while Jeremy LeGuen turned in an 80 for a final of 158.  Antonio Herran completed the team with a 92 for a 168 total.
 
MSU's Ian Gallagher, playing as an individual, carded an 87 for a 168.
 
The tournament medalist was Texas A&M-Commerce's Patrick Russo who posted a 1-over 145 after a final round 74.  UIW's Alejandro Flores and St. Mary's Kirby Gorzell tied for second at 2-over 146.
 
MSU is in action again Oct. 8-9 at the Ryan Palmer Invitational in Amarillo.
