Bingham named to pair of All-America teams

2012 National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association All America Team
2012 Daktronics All America Team

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Courtney Bingham was named to a pair of All-America teams Saturday to complete a sensational breakout season.

The junior from Arlington earned second-team honors from the National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association and gained honorable mention on the Daktronics sports information directors' squad.

Bingham posted a Lone Star Conference leading .437 batting and matched a program single-season best 19 doubles to go along with a pair of triples and four homers while driving in 31 RBIs. Bingham added 10 stolen bases while hitting out of the leadoff and No. 3 positions in the order.

The accolades add to an impressive postseason haul as she was named an All-Lone Star Conference first teamer and landed on the league's first Golden Glove team for her stellar play in right field. She later was picked to the first-team All-South Central Region teams by the NFCA and Daktronics.

Bingham was named a second-team All-South Central Region performer by the National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association after helping the Mustangs to their first World Series appearance in 2011 with a .355 average with 11 doubles, five triples and three homers while driving in 44 runs.

She was a Daktronics All-South Central Region second-teamer as a redshirt freshman in 2010 after hitting .364 with 19 doubles and a triple with 29 RBIs.

Bingham becomes just the seventh players in program history to earn All-America honors and just the third to be named to both recognized softball All-America programs joining former teammates Brittney Tanner and Elena Bennett who claimed the honor in 2011.
