Junior Melody Caldwell improved her PR by 11 seconds while taking second in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase Thursday night at the David Nobel Relays in San Angelo.

Caldwell sets PR, takes silver in 3,000-meter Steeplechase

SAN ANGELO, Texas - Junior Melody Caldwell bettered her best time by 11 seconds in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase to highlight Midwestern State's showing tin the David Noble/Angelo State Relays Thursday night at the LeGrand Sports Complex.
 
The Saginaw Boswell High School product clocked a 12:12.43 finishing second to Dallas Baptist's Kelsey Bruce who logged a time of 11:23.97.
 
Caldwell's time was the sixth fasted in the Lone Star Conference this season to improve her previous PR of 12:23.30 set at the UTA Bobby Lane Invitational last month.
 
Sophomore Janel Campbell finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:25.05 just off of her PR of 18:21.49 set at the West Texas A&M Classic which is the fifth best time in the LSC this season.
 
Sophomore Emily Saville ran a 1:11.66 while competing in the 400-meter dash.
 
MSU held out its top two performers as senior Brissia Montalvo (3,000-meter Steeple) and sophomore Ashley Flores (1,500-meter run) will compete in the 33rd annual Sun Angel Track and Field Classic Saturday at Joe Selleh Track in Tempe, Ariz.
 
The rest of the team will compete in the North Texas Invitational Track & Field Meet Saturday at Fouts Field in Denton.
