Montalvo adds second provisional time at WTAMU Open

CANYON, Texas - Midwestern State's Brissia Montalvo added a second provisional qualifying time to her resume' by clocking a personal record time of 4:35.98 in the 1500-meter run Saturday night here at the WTAMU Open.
 
The time is the third quickest in the Lone Star Conference this season behind Abilene Christian's Chloe Susset (4:30.10) and Incarnate Word's Irma Garza (4:32.00). Montalvo is the 36th runner in NCAA Division II to meet the 1500-meter provisional time of 4:36.00 this spring.
 
Montalvo also possesses the 17th best provisional time in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase of 10:55.33 set at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe earlier this month.
 
MSU sophomore Ashley Flores took the bronze in the 1500-meter run Saturday night falling seconds shy of her PR with a time of 4:44.21 followed by teammates Michelle Krezonoski (10th/5:01.05), Cara Mack (12th/5:06.35), Melody Caldwell (15th/5:10.84), Kim Krezonoski (16th/5:11.48) and Lindsey Pate (18th/5:15.36).
 
Freshman Erin Willeford took 9th place with a personal best time of 2:38.59 in the 800-meter run while Pate (21:56.71), Whitney Frie (23:12.34) and Andrea Giron (23:49.00) place sixth, seventh and eighth in the 5,000-meter run.
 
Midwestern State competes in its first Lone Star Conference Championship next weekend at Texas A&M-Commerce.
