Loyd earns Daktronics All-South Central first-team honors

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State's Michael Loyd garnered first-team Daktronics All-South Central honors Wednesday as released by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
 
The 6-1, 175-pound senior from Las Vegas led the Mustangs to the region's top seed and to a sixth Lone Star Conference championship while claiming the region's top seed in this weekend's South Central Regional at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
Loyd averaged 12.8 points and 3.5 assists per game this season and has tallied 1,035 points during his collegiate career which included two seasons at BYU.
 
Joining Loyd on the first team are Missouri Southern center Keane Thomann, Washburn junior guard Will McNeill, Tarleton State senior forward Fabian Wilson and Arkansas-Monticello senior guard L.A. Farmer. All advance to the Daktronics All America ballot.
 
Thomann garnered region player of the year honors and was the 2012 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year after leading the league and ranking 10th in NCAA Division II in scoring at 21.7 points per game.
 
Thomann also topped the MIAA in field goal percentage while rating third in both rebounds and blocks. He currently ranks sixth and 10th nationally in field goal percentage and scoring. He has 10 double-doubles this season and has moved into seventh place on MSSU's all-time scoring list with 1,505 points.
 
Thomann is the Lions' all-time leader in single season and career field goal percentage and was a four-time MIAA Player of the Week this season.
 
McNeill paced Washburn to an MIAA title averaging 20.1 points and 2.4 steals per game for the Ichabods.
 
Wilson, a 6-7 native of New Orleans, helped Tarleton State to a Lone Star Conference co-championship averaging 13 points and 7.2 rebounds a game.
 
Farmer ranks 18th in the nation in scoring with 20.6 points a game for Arkansas-Monticello.
 
Cameron guard Milton Garner, Missouri Southern guard Jason Adams, St. Mary's center Kevin Kotzur, Arkansas Tech guard Johnie Davis and West Texas A&M forward Donald Sims gained Daktronics All-South Central second-team honors.
