GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Midwestern State's Taylor Klutts and Kendra Whittley finished second and third individually, but it wasn't enough to keep the Mustangs on top of the leaderboard as the Mustangs slipped to third at the Northwood's Bluebonnet Classic at the Tangle Ridge Golf Course.
 
The Mustangs, who led after the first round, posted a 310 as a team for a 618 to finish three strokes behind Western Texas Community College who fired a tournament-low 302 to finish at 615.  Lubbock Christian added a 305 for a 617 total to edge MSU by one stroke for second.
 
Klutts shot a final round 3-over-par 75 to finish at 5-over 149, two strokes behind Lubbock Christian's Anna Schopp who won the tournament at 3-over 147.
 
Whittley posted a four-over 76 to total 6-over 150 to join a three-way tie for third with Dallas Baptist's Erin Barrington and WTCC's Stephanie Bertelsen.
 
MSU got a third top 10 finish with Brenna Moore who toured the par 72, 5,875-yard course with a 7-over 79 to tie for ninth at 156.
 
Lindsey Burkhart posted 164 for the tournament after an 80 on Tuesday, while Lauren Romines repeated her 83 from the opening round for a 166.
 
Playing as an individual, Brittany Smith rebounded from the first round with a 79 to stand at 172.
 
Midwestern takes next week off before facing a strong regional tournament field at Tarleton State's Doc Housewright Invitational in Granbury on April 9 and 10.
