GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – The Midwestern State Mustangs hold the lead after the first round of the Bluebonnet Classic at the Tangle Ridge Golf Course.
 
The Mustangs posted a 307 as a team to hold a five-stroke lead over Lubbock Christian at 312 and Western Texas College at 313.
 
The Mustangs were led by Taylor Klutts and Kendra Whittley, who are among a four-way tie in second at 2-over-par 74.
 
Brenna Moore added a 4-over 76, while Lauren Romines put up an 83.  The Mustangs also got an 84 from Lindsey Burkhart.  Playing as an individual, Brittany Smith struggled with a 93.
 
Complete results were not immediately available.
 
The Mustangs look for their second team win of the year when they play the final round of the tournament on Tuesday.
