Mustangs move into USA Today Sports Top 25 at No. 25

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State made history Tuesday moving into USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll at No. 25 as released by the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association of America.
 
The Mustangs improved to 7-1 on the season with a 76-61 win over Texas-Permian Basin Saturday  night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. MSU is off to its best start since the 2003-04 squad opened the campaign with an 8-1 mark.
 
Midwestern has received mention in the last five polls this season after receiving votes for five consecutive weeks in 2011-12.
 
The Mustangs are one of six teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 13 Colorado Mesa (10-0) while St. Mary's (8-2), Metropolitan State (6-4), Tarleton State (5-2) and Incarnate Word (6-2).
 
Midwestern State takes on Central Oklahoma Wednesday night at Hamilton Fieldhouse in Edmond. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
