WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State slipped 16 places to No. 31 in the final regular season Division II Ranking released Wednesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.
 
The Mustangs took a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championship last weekend in Denver.
 
Junior Ashley Flores was among the three individuals qualifying to advance to the NCAA Division II Championships on Nov. 17 in Joplin, Mo.
 
Flores paced the 6K course in 22:57.00 to place 19th in a very strong field. She joins the top five qualifying teams of Adams State, Western State, Colorado-Colorado Springs, Colorado Mines and West Texas A&M and two other top three finishing individuals not on advancing teams in Metro State's Janelle Lincks and Colorado Christian's Regan Mullen.
 
The Mustangs are one of six teams from the South Central Region receiving mention in the poll joining No. 2 Adams State (Colo.), No. 4 Western State (Colo.), No. 11 Colorado-Colorado Springs, No. 13 Colorado Mines and No. 23 West Texas A&M.
 
Midwestern spent much of the season ranked as high as No. 10.
