WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Len Smith and Aaron Douthit garnered Daktronics All-South Central Region second-team honors Monday afternoon as released by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
 
The duo played integral roles in helping the Mustangs to a 10-2-5 mark as the team carried a national ranking throughout much of the season.
 
Smith, named Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year earlier this month, tallied a team-high 10 goals while dishing out a pair of assists.
 
The Frisco, Texas native tallied goals in five consecutive matches from Sep. 30-Oct. 14 while accounting for each of MSU's three goals against national quarterfinalist Incarnate Word (Texas).
 
Douthit, a senior transfer from Oral Roberts, accounted for five goals and four assists out of the midfield this fall.
 
The Wylie, Texas product accounted for game winning tallies in a 3-1 win over Colorado State-Pueblo on Sep. 9 then added another winner at Adams State on Sep. 30.
 
Lone Star Conference champion Incarnate Word boasted a pair of first-team performers in junior midfielder Vincent Bailey and junior defender James Nero while junior defender Josh Ferona was named to the second team.
 
West Texas A&M's Dominic Furness, a senior forward, and Colin Bjorstad, a senior defender, gained first-team mention.
 
Colorado Mines junior forward Tesho Akindele garnered region player of the year accolades after notching 22 goals and six assists for the Orediggers.
