WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State remained third in the South Central Region rankings as released Tuesday afternoon by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.

The Mustangs finished as runners-up in the Sikes Senter Cross Country Stampede hosted at the Clay County Country Club.

Freshman
Brittany Adams led the way clocking a 23:41.56 on the 6K course followed junior
Abigail Gonzalez (5th/23:42.97), freshman
Maira Salinas (6th/23:45.13), freshman
Tylo Farrar (9th/23:52.94) and freshman
Ana Lopez (15th/24:19.49) as Midwestern's counters in the event.

The rest of the region's rankings were also unchanged.

Adams State (Colo.) maintained its hold on No. 1 after competing with no team score last weekend at the Metro State Invitational, while No. 2 Western State (Colo.), No. 4 Colorado Mines and No. 9 Dallas Baptist were idle.

No. 5 Colorado-Colorado Springs also registered no team score at the Metro State Invitational.

No. 6 West Texas A&M dominated the field for a 24-point showing at the South Plains College Invitational finishing just ahead of No. 8 Eastern New Mexico, while No. 7 Incarnate Word claimed victory at the UIW Cross Country Challenge.

No. 10 Regis (Colo.) finished fourth in the 27-team field at the Walt Disney Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla.

Midwestern State enjoys an idle week in preparation for the Lone Star Conference Championships set for Sat., Oct. 20 in Lawton, Okla.

The Mustangs have claimed the last four conference titles.
