MSU announces Men's Tennis signees

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Two men have signed to play tennis next season for Midwestern State.

MSU tennis coach Scott Linn announced that Luca Lalor of Dublin, Ireland and Logan Smith of The Woodlands have signed to continue their tennis careers with the Mustangs.

Lalor, from St. Conleth's in Dublin, ranked in the Top 10 in Boys U16 in the Emerald Isle.  He was a finalist the Brookfield Boys U18 this past year and has been a finalist in the HE 4 in Venlo, The Netherlands and in the HE 5 in Sittard, The Netherlands.

"Luca is exactly what I am searching out in the recruiting process, someone who values being the best student, person, player that he can be," said Linn. " Once he gets used to the ball striking at this level of college tennis, I am sure his tennis IQ will take him a long way.  Luca has a very solid all-court game."

Smith, a senior who has been home schooled and attended College Park High in The Woodlands, is a strong performer who was a 2010 US National Clay Court qualifier.  He was all-district and all-region at CPHS and advanced to the regional semifinals as a junior.

"Logan will be a welcomed addition to our MSU Tennis Team," Linn began.  "He is comfortable in singles and doubles with very good technique in all areas of his game.  Logan has the ability to contribute immediately in the fall."
