SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Midwestern State sophomore Kendra Whittley just missed her second consecutive tournament victory as she led the Mustangs to a fourth team finish at the Drury Lady Panther Spring Shootout.
 
Whittley shot a 12-over par 156 to finish a stroke behind Drury's Katrina Choate at 11-over 155 at Springfield's Rivercut Golf Course.
 
Whittley fired a three-over 75 in the first round that was suspended Saturday evening and completed on Sunday morning. She came back with an 81 in the scheduled Sunday round. Choate started with a 79, but added a four-over 76 to claim the win. Kayla Eckelkamp of Maryville (Mo.) was third at 13-over 157.
 
The Mustangs finished the tournament with a two-round total of 654 to finish a solid fourth. William Woods (Mo.) posted a 642 to win the tournament, while Nebraska-Omaha and host Drury were tied for second, a stroke back at 643. Harding was fifth at 675.
 
MSU got a second top 10 finish for the tournament as Taylor Klutts put together an 80-81 for a 161 to tie for tenth, but only six strokes behind the tournament winner. Megan Richardson put up an 84-81—165 to tie for 21st, with Kyla Whittley adding an 85-87—172 and Lindsay Burkhart a 97-88—185. Lauren Romines, playing as an individual for MSU, carded a 77-90—167.
 
The Mustangs are in action again a week from Monday at the George Housewright Invitational hosted by Tarleton State at the Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury.
