WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Kendra Whittley made history Tuesday afternoon in the MSU Invitational played at the Par-72, 5,986-yard Champions Course at Weeks Park.

The sophomore from Wall became the first player in the three-year history of the Midwestern State women's golf program to claim individual top medalist honors by firing rounds of 73 and 74 for a 3-over total of 147.

The score was two strokes better than Northeastern State's Kelsay Kirkpatrick, who notched rounds of 75 and 74 for a total of 149 (+5).

Whittley, who now has posted five consecutive rounds under 80, paced MSU to a fourth-place finish in the 16-team field posting scores of 310 and 313 for a two-round total of 623 (+47).

Sophomore Taylor Klutts notched a pair of countable rounds carding scores of 76 and 77 to finish tied for seventh with a total of 153 (+9).

Sophomore Lauren Romines finished strong improving her score from 81 to 79 to finish tied for 24th with a total of 160 (+16), while Megan Richardson notched scores of 80 and 83 to finish tied for 36 with a total of 163 (+19).

Senior Kyla Whittley finished tied for 39th with rounds of 81 and 83 for a total of 164 (+20) to finish tied for 39th, while sophomore Lindsay Burkhart delivered consistent rounds of 77 and 78 to finish tied for 10th with a total of 155 (+11) while competing as an individual medalist.

Northeastern State claimed the team title with a two-round total of 617 (+41) followed by St. Edward's (618/+42), Central Oklahoma (621/+45) and MSU.

Midwestern State returns to action on April 2-3 at the Lady Panther Spring Shooting hosted by Drury University in Springfield, Mo.
