WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State sophomore Kendra Whittley carded a first-round 73 to top the individual leaderboard in Monday afternoon's opening round of the MSU Invitational played at the Par-72, 5,986-yard course at the Champions Course at Weeks Park.

Whittley followed a tournament leading 35 in the Front 9 with a 38 to head into Tuesday's final tied with Angelo State's Krista Czarneck with the 1-over total of 73.

The round also helped the Mustangs into a first-place tie with Northeastern State with matching a matching team total of 310 (+22) after Monday's first round.

MSU sophomore Taylor Klutts is tied for fifth after recording a 76 (+4), while Megan Richardson notched an 80 (+8) to tie for 22nd.

Senior Kyla Whittley and sophomore Lauren Romines added an 81 (+9) to close out the Mustangs' countable scores.

Sophomore Lindsay Burkhart notched a 77 (+5) to tie for 11th.

The two-round MSU Invitational concludes Tuesday morning.
