WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State advanced four places to No. 5 in the latest National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association NCAA Division II Poll Wednesday afternoon.
The Mustangs (24-2) are one of three Lone Star Conference team in the Top 10 as Angelo State (23-1) retained its No. 1 ranking while West Texas A&M slipped four places to No. 10.
The trio headlines a group of seven squads from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll as Missouri Southern (15-3) and Nebraska-Omaha (14-4) check in at Nos. 22 and 23 while Incarnate Word and Emporia State are receiving votes.
Midwestern is off to its best start in program history and for the second straight year lead all of NCAA Division II in wins.
The Mustangs continue LSC North Division play with a three-game set against Northeastern State this weekend at Mustangs Park.
The teams play a single game Saturday at 3 p.m. before finishing the series with a doubleheader beginning at noon on Sunday.
