WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State remains on the outside looking into the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches' Association Division II Coaches' Poll released Tuesday afternoon.
The Mustangs, who improved to 5-1 by extended their current winning streak to five games with a pair of Lone Star Conference crossover victories last week, are still receiving votes.
MSU is one of seven teams from the rugged South Central Region to receive mention in the poll including No. 6 Fort Hays State (Kan.), No. 13 Tarleton State (Texas) and No. 15 Central Oklahoma while Incarnate Word (Texas), Central Missouri and Missouri Southern are receiving votes.
Bellarmine (Ky.) who claimed roads win over No. 21 Southern Indiana and No. 23 Northern Kentucky last week claimed the No. 1 position after defending NCAA Division II national champion Cal Poly Pomona who suffered losses on consecutive days to Cal State-Dominguez Hills and Cal State-Los Angeles.
Midwestern State, which is 36-4 since
Grant McCasland took the reins prior to last season, returns to action Saturday afternoon at Southwestern Oklahoma State. Tipoff at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse is set for 4 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's contest which begins at 2.
