@MSUTXFC finishes season ranked 15th in United Soccer Coaches poll

WICHITA FALLS, Texas  – Midwestern State ranked 15th in the final United States Soccer Coaches' Division II Poll released Wednesday afternoon.

The Mustangs (16-1-3) claimed a third consecutive Heartland Conference championship while extended a program record unbeaten streak to 35 matches getting off to an 11-0-1 start under interim head coach Michael Meachum.

MSU Texas roared to their fourth consecutive NCAA Division II postseason appearance before falling in penalty kicks to Colorado Mesa.

The Mustangs have carried a final national ranking in each the last five years and five of the last 12. Midwestern has been ranked in each of the last 51 polls dating back to the 2014 season and received mention in the last 64 releases.

Barry (Fla.) claimed its first men's soccer national championship with a 2-1 win over West Chester (Pa.) Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa. to claim the top spot, while the Rams were second.

National semifinalists Cal Poly Pomona and Fort Hays State (Kan.) ranked third and fourth, respectively followed by the other quarterfinalists in No. 5 Lander (S.C.), No. 6 Adelphi (N.Y.), No. 7 Young Harris (Ga.) and No. 8 West Texas A&M.

The Buffs led a group of four representing the South Central Region and were joined by No. 15 MSU Texas, No. 16 Colorado School of Mines and No. 17 Colorado Mesa.
