SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Midwestern State posted a consecutive 303 team score for the second round of the Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championship, but the Mustangs slipped to fourth entering the championship round.
 
The Mustangs sit at 606, but saw Northeastern State turn in a 300 team score to move a stroke ahead of MSU in third at 605. Tarleton State leads the team competition at 574, while Incarnate Word holds a 594 in second at it's home course at The Republic Golf Course.
 
The Mustangs Kendra Whittley, who was third after the first round, slipped a bit on the par-71, 5,867 yard track. The Wall sophomore carded a seven-over 78 on Tuesday, to drop to a 10th place tie at 148. Senior Kyla Whittley, big sister of Kendra, stepped up for a second day, posting another four-over 75 to sit in a 12th place tie at eight-over 150. Sophomore Lindsay Burkhart of Grapevine is in 20th at 11-over 153.
 
MSU's Taylor Klutts rebounded with a 75 on Tuesday for a 158, with Lauren Romines posting an 162.
 
Individually, Tarleton State's Carla Cooper leads the way at two-under-par 140, with UIW's Jessica Cornish and TSU's Sharon Lau tied for second at even-par 142.
 
The final round of the tournament is Wednesday, with the Mustangs first group teeing off at 8:50 a.m.
