SAN ANTONIO - Travis Klutts carded a second-round 70 to key a 10-stroke turnaround for Midwestern State in the second round of the Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational played at the Par-72, 6,937-yard course at the Dominion Country Club.
The Mustangs improved to eighth after the opening round to sixth with team scores of 308 and 298 for a two-round total of 606 (+30).
MSU heads into Tuesday's final round 30 strokes back of tournament-leading Central Oklahoma as the Bronchos carded a pair of even-Par rounds of 288 for a total of 576.
UCO is followed by Abilene Christian (588/+12), St. Mary's (Texas) (592/+16), Dallas Baptist (600/+24) , St. Edward's (Texas) (605/+29) and MSU in the field of 15.
Klutts fired rounds of 75 and 70 for a total of 145 (+1) to put him in a sixth-place tie with teammate
Raine Copeland who recorded scores of 72 and 73.
Freshman
Jeremy LeGuen came strong with a 74 after struggling to an opening round 81 for a total of 156 (+12) to tie for 44th, while senior
A.J. Pursley is tied for 63rd with scores of 80 and 81 for a total of 161 (+17).
Sophomore
Sam Smith fired rounds of 81 and 87 for a total of 168 (+24) to stand 76th while
Antonio Herran notched rounds of 76 and 74 for a total of 150 (+6) to stand 21st while competing as an individual medalist.
Central Oklahoma's Colby Shrum tops the individual leader board with a two-round total of 140 (-4).
The Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational concludes with a final round on Tuesday morning.
