Steve Prestwood (1989-92) became Midwestern State's first All-American of its modern era after enjoying a breakout sophomore campaign in 1990.

The El Paso native made 89 tackles and returned two intereceptions for scores to also gain first-team All-Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association accolades from the linebacker position.

Prestwood was also a key defensive member of MSU's NAIA Division II national quarterfinalist in 1991.
