Randy Waldrum (1975-78) enjoyed a stellar collegiate playing career at Midwestern State before moving on to a celebrated coaching career.

He was a four-team NAIA All-District selection while serving as a team captain for the Indians. Waldrum twice led MSU in scoring and was named to the Texas Collegiate Soccer League All-Star Team on three occasions.

He helped the Indians to their first NAIA National Tournament appearance under legendary coach Howard Patterson in 1977 as the team claimed a seventh-place finish.

Waldrum also made MSU history as the program's first player drafted by a professional soccer team when he was selected by the Los Angeles Skyhawks in 1978.

He is currently the head women's soccer coach at Notre Dame and led the Fighting Irish to a national championship in 2004.
