As a transfer from Tyler Junior College in 1951, O'Neal Weaver (1951-52, 54-56) was an immediate MU leading scorer. He became the first to score over 400 points in a season. Weaver was soon dubbed the "fabulour Hiram" for his passing and shooting ability. He spent two years in military service and had a career total of 1,599 points over a three-year period. He was named NAIA All America in 1956.
